MTV killed the video star

So one of the best media for us music bloggers is the online music video. In 20 years, music has never changed faster. LPs to music videos to cassette tapes to CDs to mp3s; they all have changed the landscape of music. Music as an art hasn't changed. There are still great live bands and new and innovative artists. But I felt the art of the music video really died during the Real World days of MTV. But now youtube and other viral video sites have brought back the music video. It is so simple to get content on the web now. Everyone's phone or digital camera can make it happen. Now you get videos on the internet of concerts you were at the night before. Plus you get to see new bands creating fun videos and MTV caliber bands making cool videos (seen below). I really look forward to the next generation of music. What could it be? I think the evolution of music has these 2 items in their cross-hairs; FM Radio and the CD.
