Red Pop and Turntables

So I went to see one of my favorite cover bands in the Chicago area. The band is Red Pop Fury... Anyways, they played Space Age Love Song by Flock of Seagulls. See below. Anything Flock of Seagulls is pretty much gold to Pitchshifter and me. Ya see, there was a show we saw them play at the Mandalay Bay Beach venue in Vegas one summer night. It was the most fun I have had at a concert. It wasn't the best concert ever, but it was fun. So its a little nostalgic. Here's the video.

Also last night I got my latest piece of audio gear. The Rega Planar 2 turntable. Seen here.

Those of you who are avid listeners of Outside the Dial know that vinyl is having a major comeback and you need to sell your CD players pronto. This step is all part of my plan to refurbish my home audio experience. I will layout my plans in a future blog for you newbies. So I need to decide what piece of vinyl christens the turntable. The choice has to be witty and precise. I don't think I can wait to purchase something from MusicDirect either. I may go with something from my current vinyl collection which includes mostly Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, a Veruca Salt EP and German Drinking songs... Check the poll and vote for what I should christen the system with.

Regards,
Hirsch

  1. You know, 80's bands can still give great shows. I have been to a ton of concerts, but some of the best in my life were Echo & the Bunnymen at Metro, Men at Work at HOB, and Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros (playing a bunch of Clash songs) at Metro. I know all of these shows were in the past decade.
